MIDI SKIRTS AND ME – A POST-MODERN, PLATONIC LOVE AFFAIR
MIDI SKIRTS VS MEN – THERE’S NO COMPETITION
Ah, midi skirts. The medium-sized woman’s holy grail. The waxen faced wench’s cheat to showing a bit of leg without blinding the masses with the most pallid of pins. A great way to show some ankle without having to shave the entire leg. An all-round winner. Wear with a bodysuit, spaghetti strap vest, oversized jumper or with a tucked-in tee (sorry Tan from Queer Eye, I went full tuck) and leather jacket, it’s the hardest working item your wardrobe needs. Here’s how I wore mine.
The feminine florals on this skirt were begging to be offset with something slightly less girly. Enter, my Idea Ltd. Winona t-shirt, a soft homage to everyone’s favourite Veronica/would-be Heather.
I went on a motorbike once on a trip to Tesco Ballybrack for a 12 pack of toilet paper. In the middle of the open road, the toilet paper freed itself from the shackles of the domestic life and went to live in the middle of the road. Such wanton things happen on the back of a motorbike. A leather jacket is my compromise – I look cooler but there’s no risk of losing toilet paper with it on. My trusted one is from All Saints and although they are circa €500, they last an awfully long time. As long as it took to grow out my breakup pob. Here’s a similar one.
How do you style your midi skirts? Would you prefer a more dressed-up look? Do let me know in the comments.
