SLIP DRESSES 2.0 – THE 90S STAPLE YOU NEED RIGHT NOW
Whether you wear yours with nothing but a side of sass and lashings of sex appeal or layer with a tee or polo neck and boots, slip dresses are here to stay. The underwear-as-outerwear staple has a legacy dating back long before the 90s but it was the era of grunge that truly cemented its status as the go-to outfit of choice of the it girls (remember when Kate Moss wore one with nothing but panties and then you did it for your Grandad’s 60th and it didn’t go off well as planned?).
SLIP DRESSES – UP OR DOWN
Worn with boots or Converse and layered with a classic colour block tee underneath, slip dresses ooze effortless French girl cool. Pair with heels at night and the mercury rises. Strike a balance and go night-time grunge with hard-wearing boots and a leather jacket. You’ll scare off any potential suitors with your shit kickers and have a shot at joining a motorcycle gang – win/win to be honest.
A good slip dress will have you feeling like a professional Latina poker player (just me?) and an ass double for J-Lo – oozing mystique and gains from behind. A bad slip dress will emit distinct dirt-bag Daisy Bucket vibes – a right old slob, chasing after your senile Daddy and tricking your husband into having sex with you. The line is fine! Oversized is not OK, repeat after me.
Most importantly, wear your slip dresses in casinos in the middle of the day whilst ignoring the stares from the 80 year old slot machine connoisseur and the local boy on his first job and in fields with camper vans and holiday-goers and staycationers, throw your head back and revel in the fact that your bottom has never looked this good. Thanks, slip dresses. Thlipdresses.
